From the desk of Mr. Fuller:

March is here, and with it comes Reading Month! Schools across America hold various types of celebrations during this time because we want to recognize the importance of reading in all of our lives.

One of our primary missions at school is to teach children to read. To identify the words in the text, and to derive meaning from the print they are seeing. We also want students to regard reading as an essential part of a well fulfilled life. It is our sincere hope that every student discovers the value and joy of reading.

Our Reading Month theme is, Camp Out With A Great Book. If parents have the opportunity to walk the halls of Dieck Elementary during the month of March, you will be pleasantly amazed at the transformation of our school into a campground. Trees, tents, lanterns, imaginary fires, starlit skies, and of course books; abound. And this is just the first day of the month! All of this comes together through the collaborative efforts of our dedicated staff, and talented students.

Many activities are scheduled to take place this month. I am really looking forward to family reading night. This will be the first time we’ve cooked smores over fires on the school grounds. Check out the calendar of events, and join in on the fun.

March is Reading Month!!
