Honoring our Home Town Veterans

The Lincoln Student Council had the honor of visiting Edison's Veteran's Memorial Home. Our Student Council Executive Board Members delivered the very generous donation of items that were collected by the students, families, and staff of Lincoln School. A heart felt thank you to everyone who donated to our home town veterans.

Standards Based Report Card

This year, our grading process for grades K, 1 & 2 has changed to a standards based grading system. These standards are based on the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and measure your child's growth towards meeting those standards. The first report card will be available in Genesis on Friday, December 16th. You should receive a notification from Genesis that the report card is available.

The district has created a parent handbook explaining standards based grading system. To access this, please click here.

In addition, the rubrics for each grade and content are linked here. *Scroll to the bottom of the page for the rubrics. This describes the behaviors teachers look for from students to determine their understand towards that specific standard.

Any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Health Reminders

With the flu season upon us, it is important to keep our children healthy. Those who get flu-like symptoms should stay home until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever without the use of fever-reducing medicines. Common symptoms of the flu include fever, headache, muscle and body aches, chills, sore throat, fatigue (tired) and dry cough. Children may also have nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Children need enough time to recover at home with rest and fluids. Call your family doctor if you have questions, and follow their advice. Please use your judgement and make sure your child feels well enough to be in school for a full day before they return.

Additional Parent’s Guide for the Flu can be found on the CDC website:

When to keep your child home from school:

-Fever 100 degrees or higher. Children should not come back to school until the temperature is normal for 24 hours without medication.

-vomiting or diarrhea (within the past 24 hours)

-a frequent cough that won’t stop or other problems with breathing

-any rash accompanied by a fever

-sore throat with a fever and/or rash
