Rockport High School
Viking News - The Week of 9/18/2023
Happy Friday, RHS Students!
It has been a busy few weeks as we get back into the swing of school. We learned more about the clubs and activities that exist in the high school at last week's Assembly block and we've had sign up sheets going around at lunches. We encourage all students to get involved in whatever way they feel comfortable.
This week, we will be hearing from the Gloucester Youth Leadership Council on ways to extend student leadership outside the walls of RHS. After that we will hear speeches from students interested in taking on roles within student government as Student Advisory Council reps. Please note that Assembly may be slightly extended to fit in everything we have to cover.
Here' to a great week ahead! 😎

RHS Open House
Our annual RHS Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 6:00 pm. The evening will commence in the auditorium after which parents will follow an abbreviated school schedule, enabling you to meet each of your child’s teachers and learn about curricular expectations at RHS.
First Day Packet
A reminder to students and families to hand in your first day packets to the Main Office as soon as possible. If you have questions about the packet or need assistance with its content, please see Ms. Lucido in the front office.
Student and Family Disctrict Handbook
In an effort to be more environmentally friendly and to cut down on the paperwork that families need to complete at the beginning of the school year, Rockport Public Schools has revised our school handbooks into one updated online Student and Family District Handbook. This new version is published on our website and allows for easy access to an organized list of procedures, practices, and important information.
Please read and review the handbook using this link: Rockport Public Schools Student and Family District Handbook.
Parents and guardians will need to acknowledge that they have read the handbook through this form: Acknowledgment of Receipt of RPS Student and Family Handbook. This form is also available on the Handbook page of our website. Please complete ONE FORM FOR EACH child you have attending Rockport Schools. For 6th through 12th grade students, you will also be prompted to have your child sign this acknowledgement form.
TownGreen nonprofit
TownGreen, a Gloucester-based nonprofit focused on climate resilience education, received a grant to assist Cape Ann green teams and student groups interested in taking action on climate. TownGreen will provide facilitation, programming, and funding for three regional/ community-specific projects in Gloucester, Rockport, and Manchester/Essex that focus on climate/coastal resilience, ecological restoration, or climate/environmental justice. Teams will have discussions with other student teams, collaborate, and coordinate the projects to collect regional/community data that highlight impact. Each team will receive a stipend of $750, participate in virtual and in-person meetings (some with guest speakers), and present at a Climate Summit. This program runs from September 2023 to March/April 2024. TownGreen is looking forward to working with students at Rockport High School who want to make an impact on climate change.
