Happy New Year!
Welcome back to school! We have seen many happy faces and heard lots of exciting stories of holiday adventures in the library this week and last. It's great to see the students settled and happy to be back at school. We certainly have been busy in the library this week with lots of book returns, classes and students reconnecting during lunchtimes.
Library Redevelopment Update
Plans are rapidly taking place for the new library design. We have had meetings with architects, furniture suppliers and library staff from other schools. The ESF appointed architect team are working hard and closely liaising with us to ensure that all our needs are met. Plans should be finalised over the next few months.
Chinese New Year Books
We have some lovely children's picture books about Chinese New Year on display in the library for students to borrow.
Parents are very welcome to visit the library before and after school - see hours at the bottom of the newsletter.

Upcoming author visit for Year 4
We are pleased to welcome author - Gail Clarke to the library on Monday, January 28. Gail is a retired primary school teacher and as a planet-ambassador, she is also deeply passionate about wildlife protection.
She will read her new book - Searching for Skye - An Arctic Tern Adventure, a brilliant book with lots of personality. Its characters are engaging and it will inspire children to learn more about migration and the environment, which will link nicely with the upcoming Year 4 Unit of Inquiry on migration.
Read more about Gail's book here.

Books For Birthdays
So far this year, 41 children have participated in the "Books For Birthdays" initiative. That means 41 new books in the library!
We encourage you and your child to participate in this programme - simply bring in $100 and choose a book from the basket of brand new books - specially purchased for this purpose. Your child will then take the book to class to celebrate with their friends and teacher and return the book to the library when they have finished reading it at home.
By participating in the "Books For Birthdays" initiative your child is supporting our library and you don't need to bake cupcakes! If your child would like to do both - bring in cupcakes and donate a book to the library via the "Books For Birthdays", please do!

Parent Volunteers in the library
Do you have any time at all to spare during the day or in the morning after dropping off your child at school? Your library needs your help!
There are shelves to tidy, books to re-shelve and books to cover. If you can spare any time at all, no matter how little, it would be much appreciated.
10 minutes once a week or whenever you can, would be greatly appreciated!
