A Message from our Principal...
Dear Jefferson Families / Queridos families de Jefferson,
It is almost the winter solstice, the year’s halfway point. And, we are nearing the end of our second quarter, our school year’s halfway point! Students and their teachers are finishing up assignments and projects and are getting ready for a restful “Winter Break.” It seems like this year has lasted a lifetime, yet at the same time, it has flown by so very quickly. Your children and the Jefferson staff have learned a lot more than we can quantify in the report cards that will come out January 8th. We are building stronger relationships with each other and are much more savvy with technology to name just a few areas of growth. We’ve also learned that we can do this remote learning. We can make it work, for now! The best end of the calendar year news is that we may be seeing a light at the end of this pandemic tunnel. I am hopeful that our remote learning is in the home stretch and that we’ll be doing in-person learning before we know it! After all, this is the season of hope.
All of us at Jefferson wish you and your families a winter break with as much peace, joy, and love as is possible. We will be here for you and your students when school resumes on January 7, 2021 and we will be looking forward to a learning filled second semester!
Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or needs.
Peace,
Dr. Judy Floeter

Meet Some of Jefferson's Educational Support Personnel!
Ms. Glenda
Mrs. Barb
My name is Barbara Gyondla, although I’ve been known to the students here at Jefferson simply as Ms. Barb since I began as a lunch aid during the 2014/15 school year. I am currently filling in for another support staff member, Ms. Patty, while she is on maternity leave.
I live in Woodstock with my husband and our very spoiled dog and cat. We have two grown children and a 3 year old granddaughter that we spoil as well. I never thought I could miss a noisy lunchroom or a cold playground as much as I do. But mostly I miss just being able to be with our students in person and hope we can be back together on that playground in the early spring.

Bee Mindful...
Your student's social emotional learning is an essential component of their education. During this unique school year, teachers have been utilizing lessons from the Second Step Curriculum that were specifically designed for the remote learning environment. Over winter break, students will be assigned a lesson that instructs them to interview a family member that they would like to learn more about. When we return from break, your child will have the opportunity to share this information with his or her classmates. It's a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn more about their own family members, as well as the uniqueness of other families.
We have included a pdf of this lesson so you can review it and help your child along the way. We hope everyone has fun with this activity! Enjoy exploring the other fun activities in this newsletter with the whole family. Have a wonderful break!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haMi5SBtSX8&authuser=0
