Newsletter Week 3 -Term 2 2021
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville May 18th 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora Koutou,
This week is when we are all in our winter uniform. If you need support with winter items, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
A special welcome to Demetrius Mika-Filivao and his family to our school. Demetrius is in Room 5 and very happy to be here. We are too!
This week Jemma Van Eijk and myself are attending the Waikato Catholic Principal and Director of Religious Studies Conference held in Rotorua. It is a great opportunity for both of us to link in with other colleagues and hear some very thought provoking messages from leaders in our Catholic field. We will be offsite on Wednesday and Thursday.
This week is National Road Safety week. Here at school we are learning and teaching about being safe on the roads, what we need to wear in a car, and how to look out for sneaky driveways. We are very aware that lots of our children have little experience at crossing roads correctly. This is a great opportunity to sharpen our road safety skills. On Wednesday and Thursday we have the Police coming in to support our learning. The children will be excited to get the opportunity at seeing a police car and asking questions about their job. In class time they will have a police officer delivering some of the programme to them.
Photos will be out on Facebook and next week's newsletter.
On Friday is Pink Shirt Day in honour of speaking up, standing together to stop bullying. Wear pink to school if you can. No gold coin donation required! Next Friday we are having Gumboot Friday to raise awareness for mental health. Keep posted for more details.
Please see details below for this weeks PFC Disco. There has been a slight change to Year Group time slots, so please double check these on today's notice. Thank you.
Please don't forget to book a time for the Student Led Conferences held next week. Below are the instructions you need to log and book in.

Reflection
Pentecost
Pentecost Marks The Official End Of The Easter Season, The Liturgical Colour Of Pentecost Is Red. This is based on the original Pentecost and the Holy Spirit appearing as flames. In my experience as a life long Catholics, Pentecost is the biggest day where Catholics try to actually wear the liturgical colour to Mass. Expect to see plenty of people wearing red. Pentecost Is The Birthday Of The Church.
Acts 2:1-2
“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were.”
Acts 2:3
“Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them.”
