Welcome Wednesday!

If your student is a morning car rider, I bet you’ve noticed our new “Welcome Wednesday” tradition. The cheers, music, clapping, drum cadences, and high-fives have turned the hump day frowns upside down! In the realm of education, the importance of crafting a welcoming environment in the mornings cannot be overstated as the initial moments when students step onto the school grounds hold a unique power. A cheerful greeting, a friendly smile, and an atmosphere that radiates warmth can set the stage for an entire day of positive experiences. Research has shown that this positive start significantly influences one's mood, motivation, and eagerness to engage in learning. It's a ripple effect that extends far beyond the individual student, benefiting the entire school day. Our Welcome Wednesday mornings foster positive interactions and nurture a profound sense of belonging. When students feel valued and comfortable in their school environment, they are not only more likely to actively participate in class but also to embrace and thrive in meaningful learning experiences while cultivating positive relationships with their peers and teachers.

At GMS we hold a steadfast belief in the power of creating a warm and welcoming morning environment. Throughout the year, all GMS students will have the opportunity to serve on a Welcome Wednesday team and greet all morning bus and car riders. With our new Welcome Wednesday tradition, hump day has a new outlook, and we look forward to seeing more smiles from both students and parents each Wednesday morning!
