Homeroom

It is important that you continue to follow the Red Day/Black Day routine for homerooms.

Black Days

Advisory days, homework help, UIL practices

Students may leave you room with a pass

Red Days

Drop Everything and Read "DEAR" days

Students may NOT leave your room

UIL Practices

Practices may be held before and after school and during homeroom on Black Days. As of right now, Red Days are still "DEAR" days. If you feel that you need both black/red days to practice due to conflicts, please let me know and we will work something out.

Tardies

Most of our students are getting to class on time, but we have a few that take their time to get to class. Please encourage students to get to class quickly. Both lunch groups are released 3 minutes before the bell rings so they have plenty of time to get to class. Transition during the noon hour seems to be when we have the most stragglers.

Study Hall for missing assignments

With the attempt to encourage our students to turn their assignments in on time, we are initiating a study hall during the lunch hour. Any student who does not turn thier assignments in on time, should be assigned to study hall. In order for this to work, we will need to follow the steps below:

1. A google sheet will be sent; use the google sheet to assign students to study hall

2. Fill in the cells with the appropiate informaiton (name, assignment, and teacher name)

3. Tell them what day they must report

If a student turns in the assignment after the due date, they must still attend study hall for the assigned day.

*We will begin this on Wednesday, October 21.

Progress Reports

Due to the short six weeks, progress report grades are due Monday, October 19.

REMINDER:

If you have any Sped students, please make certain that you are following ALL of the ARD required modifications and accommodations.

Pirate Pride

As of right now, we have over half of our events covered by parent volunteers. We hope to have enough volunteers to be able to give you some time to work in your rooms. I will make assignments as needed and will post the Pirate Pride schedule and duty assignments on LiveBinder by next week.

Micah has put together a google sheets so that you may remove any student(s) who do not meet Pirate Pride Criteria. The time frame for meeting criteria is September 14-October 26. I will send it out soon so that you may begin removing students who do not qualify.

The Top Selling Homerooms

Digital Citizenship Lessons

I hope that the digital citizenship lessons went well this week. I know that teaching the lessons during homeroom might have conflicted with UIL practices. Plan accordingly, and teach the lessons on Black days if at all possible.

If you forgot to teach the lesson for digital citizenship this week, please take time next week and teach the lesson on "web searches".

Reminder: Lessons can be found on Google sheets (Gwen May sent the email with the invite).
