The event will take place on Thursday, February 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the media center. Parents are invited. The deadline to register is Tuesday, February 7. A note of Physical Education!
I am sending some information, so you are up to date on the activities we have been doing. We will start dribbling with our hands this week. There will be mini-games and activities where kids always have a ball in their hands. After a month of dribbling with our hands, we will then do dribbling with our feet and kicking.
Learning objectives from this past month:
We have learned different volleying and striking techniques. We practiced by using our hands, a short implement, or a long implement. We switched the implement every lesson, so they experienced as much as possible. We are learning everyday sports skills for sports such as volleyball, golf, pickleball, badminton, and hockey. We have done skill stations where the kids rotate to experience a different piece of equipment and have various objects to hit.
The lesson format is a warm-up that applies to the skills for that day or a video activity where the kids can move and have fun. We then move into skill practice games or group stations, so the kids get repetitions, can stay focused, and are more engaged. The smaller the activity, the better it is for everyone to participate the entire time, which is what we want. We typically end the class period with a larger game-type activity followed by a short relaxation time with the
lights off.
Please remember to have your kids wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle, as we
will be active every day.
I am grateful for this opportunity to teach your kids physical activities and
have fun with them.
