Extra Points : Coach Pomazak's Message
Boy, oh, boy, did this summer fly. It is remarkable how quickly the days can turn into weeks and weeks into months. Summer camp is always a special time of the year for me. I am a creator at heart, and nothing excites or motivates me more than collaborating and producing a summer opportunity that allows us to teach our program in a 3-dimensional environment. Our Stars must hear, see, feel, and touch what it means to be a Northstar football player. Anyone can put a poster on a wall, but what separates our program from others is that every day we are together, we are immersing our players in the Northstar ecosystem. This does not happen alone, and I want to thank our staff and parent group for putting in the countless hours of preparation it takes to make this happen. The bottom line, this is a special place with special people, and I feel blessed to have this opportunity to work alongside all of you.
This past week was hectic for our Stars; we had over 230 youth campers join us for our Junior and Little Stars camps. Each day, I was fortunate enough to witness our Stars leading and teaching the North Star Mentality to the future of our program. This type of investment will build our schedule for the years to come.
If that was not enough, our Stars Platoons were tasked with the challenge of planning their very own philanthropy for our selfless service week. Our boys did not disappoint, and their efforts connected our community and showed the impact that a straightforward task of servant leadership can have on many. I have been doing this for a long time, and I know when we have a special group. Let me tell you that we have a special one here. Mark my words, this group's love for each other and their buy-in to our North Star culture will be the backbone and foundation to our many wins and future successes.
A good friend of mine has said, " this is not the end; it's only the beginning"!

NORTHSTAR FOOTBALL FUNDRAISER UPDATES
We have put a soft closure to our card sale and the returns are great at a program we sold around 1200 cards! Some players are still turning cards in so please do not hesitate to keep selling.
Congratulations to Bob's Brigade Platoon on selling over 170 cards and earning the platoon challenge championship and 30 points towards their overall score!
As we transition to the 2nd phase of our fundraising, we ask our Stars to find sponsorship for our Stars Football Lift a Thon. Each athlete will be able to raise money via an online platform. Please consider donating or share the link with friends and family. More details are forthcoming regarding the lift a thon.
STARS SELFLESS SERVICE WEEK
This past week our Platoons were challenged with collaborating, implementing, and reflecting on a servant leadership project within our STC community. The platoons showcased their project on our @scnfbofficial Twitter handle. Each platoon did a fantastic job and should be applauded for their efforts. Not only did they invest their time and effort, but the preparation and accountability it took to show up and execute the project speak volumes for their care for one another. This is a selfless group that understands what it means to put we before me.
The winner will be announced Tuesday at our team building event.

The action is white hot! Lemon Peppa Steppa's have kept Bob's Brigade and Goodfellas and arm's length. Still, with the Servant Leadership Project looming overhead and the final week of points at NIU, it is safe to say that championship is still anyone's game.
