Welcome Back Green Meadows Families
2020-2021 School Year~Here’s to a great year ahead!
It's me under the mask!
Welcome New Families and Students!
A Message From Ms. Moberg
Dear Green Meadows Families,
I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2020-2021 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining Green Meadows this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well.
In case you missed, my Welcome Back Letter, sent through PlusPortals and BlackBoard Connect, please find it here.
We have worked hard this summer revising some of our school routines and procedures. Some things will look a little different but a lot will remain the same. I will be sharing updated Arrival and Dismissal Procedures soon. They are just being finalized. Again, this year we will use “Number Placards” for easy and efficient Parent Pick-up during dismissal. We will assign each “parent pick-up” student a number and will provide the parent with a number card to be placed on the car dashboard so it is visible through the front car window. More specifics and a video coming soon.
I will be sharing communication with families regularly through BlackBoard Connect and the PlusPortals. The switch to the ParentPortals is still new for many families so I will send communication through both platforms for the time being.
Our Green Meadows staff are so excited to see our students. We have missed them a lot and look forward to getting the school year started.
Sincerely,
Ms. Moberg

The One and Only, Mr. Villamaino...aka Mr. V
A Very Special Goodbye to this GREAT Guy!
Our Green Meadows Family will miss the best Assistant Principal ever, Mr. Villamaino. We will miss his good sense of humor, his willingness to always lend a hand, and the very positive impact he had on our whole school community. Best of luck to you Mr. V. Our loss is a total gain for WMS. Best of luck. Visit often and know you will always be a part of our Green Meadows Family.

Example: If your grade 6 student is in Cohort A and will attend school on Monday and Tuesday, they will follow the schedule given to them for related arts and academic courses. If your Cohort A student has an 8:52 Reading class on Monday and Tuesday, they will be expected to log in to their Reading class remotely at 8:52 on Thursday and Friday. This allows for schedule, predictability and accountability. There will be attendance and accountability procedures in place to determine and identify student’s participation and those who need additional support.
Every teacher will have a Google Classroom where they will log in to access synchronous learning opportunities and course activities. Parents will not be invited to the Google Classrooms. In lieu of the limited access to Google Classroom activities for parents, we will continue to use Rediker PlusPortals for progress and communication of student progress. Each parent should have their own PlusPortals account and should not share their child’s account.

It is the student’s responsibility to come to school with the Chromebook charged. This is part of our expectations for students being prepared for class and prepared to learn. Students will not have access to hallway lockers. In the days ahead, clear expectations for students about how to properly engage in synchronous learning opportunities.
Grading will follow a traditional process and students will be expected to engage in all aspects of the learning process regardless of their setting. We urge parents who have questions as the school year begins to communicate with the teachers and allow for your children to advocate for themselves. Middle school students need to develop self-advocacy skills and learn to ask for help when they need it. That does not negate the family need to be involved but student/teacher conversations are the first line of problem solving.
Please make every effort to support the school's need to have students wear masks, stay safely distanced from one another, abide by drop-off procedures and allow us the ability to remove those concerns as obstacles in the teaching and learning process. We will do our best to keep your children safe and secure and give them the best opportunity to learn.
Goodbye, good luck...
