Team Columbia
Average is OFFICIALLY over!
End of the 3rd Nine Weeks
Team Columbia:
Friday marks the end of the 3rd nine weeks. We are three-fourths of the way through the school year. As we reset for the fourth nine weeks, let's remind our students the importance of finishing strong.
As we turn our attention on finishing out the school year and looking forward to Spring Break, let's make ACT a primary focus for our Juniors. They will be taking the the ACT on April 3. We will also give our Sophomores a mock ACT that will be graded by ACT on the same day. Their scores will serve as a baseline so we can continue to work with our students to raise our ACT average.
Please use the ACT resources such as Albert, Number 2.com, and Open Ed to assist you with providing ACT practice and other resources to expose our students to that type of rigor. We are moving on an upward trajectory, to continue moving forward, it will take grit and determination from faculty and students.
In the next few weeks we will be focusing on registering 8th-11th grade students for the 2018-2019 school year. Please be flexible because it will require our counseling team to come into various classes to accomplish this task.
Finally, we had a lot of events last week. Thanks to all who pitched in and supported with testing, I-Register, the Black History Program, and ASVAB testing. We definitely like to thank everyone for being flexible during such a busy week.
As always, have a great week of teaching and learning!!

Attendance Procedures Update
- After our PD, we received a lot of helpful feedback. We will be making the following updates to the pupil referral procedures to further streamline the process:
- Advisory teachers will now be solely responsible for referring their students for all day unexcused absences (including the first semester).
- Teachers may also refer for their individual classes (excessive absences or tardies); however, this is not a requirement.
- Please read the updated FAQ for your assistance regarding our new schoolwide pupil referral process.
- Letter to Freshman Advisory Homerooms (Monday)
- Letters will be in advisory mailboxes for distribution during advisory.
- Students will need to initial receipt of the letter.
