It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Warm Winter Wishes

With the holidays only a few short days away, I know this can be a stressful, and sometimes overwhelming time for many. I just wanted to take a moment to wish you and your amazing families a wonderful holiday season. I am so blessed and fortunate to work at such a wonderful school with the most amazing children ever. You, as parents, should be so proud of what wonderful children you are raising. They make my job easy, and I love coming to work each day to teach their amazing minds. It is my hope that I am helping them to become the best students and cultivated, global learners that they can be. I know I am looking forward to a break and spending time with my little ones. We are eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival, and are looking forward to lots of time playing with new toys, watching holiday movies, and catching up on some much needed quality time. I hope that you are able to do the same this holiday season. Relax, recharge, and I am looking forward to seeing you and your children in the New Year.

Classroom Happenings

The boys and girls in Room 15 have been hard at work finishing up Unit 2 in our ELA Curriculum. Throughout the unit, we have explored answers to the questions "Why is storytelling important?" and "How do stories teach messages, morals, and lessons?" Students have learned about fables, folktales, and myths, and are able to identify elements of diverse cultures that are infused throughout various folktales. Students completed a culminating event in which they wrote their own fables, and were able to participate in collaborative discussions with one another relating to the best messages conveyed in various fables, myths, and folktales. Our next unit is focused on invention and innovation. Throughout the unit, we will be exploring answers to "How can problem solving lead to new ideas?" Students will investigate many famous inventors throughout history, and will also have an opportunity to create their own "invention" to help make our world a better place. I am looking forward to all of the new learning that takes place throughout the next unit.

Next Week-Volunteers Needed

I am looking for two parent volunteers on Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 to assist with student supervision during the movie that PTA is providing to our students. If you are available during this time, and are on the list of approved volunteers, I would love it if you could assist with this event.

On Monday, students will participate in a "Holidays Around the World" event. Students will travel from room to room and will explore how different cultures celebrate holidays around the world. Our room will focus on the holiday of "Las Posadas." I know students are looking forward to this fun and exciting learning opportunity.

On Wednesday, students will participate in a movie event provided by our fabulous PTA. During the morning, students will be participating in many fun and engaging activities, and will create a holiday craft. If you are available to come in and assist in the morning, please let me know via e-mail. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
