Middle School Musings
5th and 6th grade news
Joy-Filled Learning
This week has been full of activity and lots of laughs for our 5th and 6th graders.
Teach me how to "dab"?
Every week we play vocabulary charades to help us remember our vocabulary words. This week 5th graders had the word "enthusiastic." The students were enthusiastic about teaching their teacher the new and hip dance move called "the dab." Whatever that is? Apparently, their teacher was doing it wrong.
Oh Canada!
One of the highlights from the week was skyping another class from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Hendricks students will be participating in the Global Read Aloud program. For the month of October, students will read the same novel as St. Valentine School students from Mississauga. Hendricks students will be blogging and completing projects along with the St. Valentine school children.
Terrific Tuesday
Compliments all around! Terrific Tuesday is a day full of spreading love to our classmates. We find ways to encourage one another and go above and beyond what is expected. It is what makes our Tuesdays so terrific.
Math is fun!
Students raced across the room solving math problems. For review, students played hungry hippo math. Each color of pom poms represents a different mathematical category.
Family Feud Style
6th grade gears up to review their math by playing some family feud.
Welcome to 2040!
Welcome to the year 2040! Ask students about the crazy inventions that have come to Hendricks. We have been writing news reports using complex sentences, subordinating conjunctions, and much more. I have some creative news anchors in my classroom!
