INSPIRE, ENGAGE, EMPOWER!
Going beyond the classroom...
Wow, September is here! This is my favorite time of year. The weather starts to change and the leaves become so colorful and beautiful. Such a calming landscape! Football is starting and I sure do love NFL! Most importantly, students at North Side are now in the full swing of things following school expectations and procedures and are deep into their learning. Beginning of the year benchmarks are completed and teachers have valuable information to guide individualized instruction.
The question is, how can you help your child beyond the classroom?
Stress the importance of learning! Ask about homework and take time to check it over. You can volunteer in the classroom to assist with learning or join the PTO and help plan fun events. Check Seesaw and Canvas to see your child's work and look on Power School routinely to see completed/missing work and your child's current grades. Don't hesitate to e-mail the teacher's with questions as well.
PBIS Store shopping has started...... | Students are earning ROARS tickets to use at our PBIS store. Earned when they show: Respect Organization Achieve Goals Responsibility Safety | It is important for student's to SAY SOMETHING!!! When students have concerns about themselves, friends or peers, we encourage them to step forward and speak to any adult in the school. |

Sometimes children have accidents in their pants, sometimes they spill their milk or fall in a puddle. We have been seeing an increase in children needing a change of clothes at school. Parents of preschool through 2nd grade, please send a change of clothes for your child to keep at school in case of an accident. THANK YOU!!

Download the app today to help us continue earning money for our school, but don't stop clipping just yet! Please continue to clip and save those Box Tops as you get them. We will have a classroom contest coming in October. Thank you parents and families for your support with this program!

From the Cafeteria:
Food Service would like to remind all students that outerwear, such as coats, hooded sweatshirts, hats, scarves and gloves are not to be worn or tied around their waist when coming through the serving line. Also, they cannot have scrunchies and/or hair ties around their wrists when coming through the line. Outside food or drinks are not allowed in the line as well. This includes, water bottles, thermos bottles, chips, cookies and candy.
Students that are free, reduced or full pay must have money in their account if they pack their lunch and need a milk. Milk costs 50 cents. The students are more than welcome to take a milk from the share table. The share table is where students can place their unopened milk, juice, fruit and food that they choose not to eat. Students can help themselves to what is available at the share table.
Students who go through the lunch line, must choose 3 items for their lunch tray. One of those items MUST be a serving, which is 1/2 cup of a fruit or a vegetable.
Students may charge two times when their account is out of money. If students still have a negative balance after those 2 charges, they will be offered a cheese sandwich, a fruit, a vegetable and a milk until there is money in their account.
Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. every morning except for Monday morning, which is at 8:10 a.m. After the first morning bell rings, students will be given a Grab-n-Go breakfast, which consists of a juice, goldfish and cereal to take to the classrooms so they are not tardy. If students want a choice for breakfast, they need to arrive before the first bell.
Cookies will not be sold on Fridays until sometime in September. I believe the price will be 60 cents this year with a purchase limit of 2 cookies.
Food Service is looking forward to a great year with your students.
