Happy Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Thoughts:
We are two thirds of the way through November; where did the time go? It seems like the new school year began just yesterday. We have had an exciting beginning to the 17-18 school year. Assemblies, field trips, picture day, family fun nights, spirit days, a book fair, iPads, Halloween and oh yes, lots of learning!! We have so much more to look forward to!
November is the time of year we think about all of our blessings and give thanks- our schools are on that list! I mentioned just a few in the first paragraph. But there is more; much more. Family is the first that comes to mind.
I recently spent a long weekend with my five sisters- yes, I wrote 5. For the past five years we have been getting together annually, without our families, to enjoy each others’ company. We talk, we shop, we cook together, we eat, we do a craft, we have a book club, we watch a sunrise, we laugh. We spend time talking about our families, our hopes, our dreams, our shared childhoods. And yes, sometimes we gossip and even talk about one another! But mostly, we enjoy one another and embrace the bond we share as sisters.
Growing up with five sisters was not always easy. There was much ‘borrowing’ of clothes, there were ‘fights’ about who was to do what chore, we were all vying for the number one spot in our Daddy’s eyes. They couldn’t give us everything we may have wanted, but they gave us the determination and skills to succeed and thus eventually find our own way. We knew we were loved - what more could a child want? In fact, their epithet reads, “They Loved.”
So during this month of Thanksgiving, share your love with your family, as they are your most precious gifts and prized possessions.
