Carlsbad ArtWalk

This past Saturday, September 21st, nine of our RMS art students volunteered and were led in the making of a 6’x8’ chalk mural painting at the ArtWalk Carlsbad event. We accomplished our replica of Van Gogh’s “Wheat Field with Cypress” within four hours and received a lot of great encouragement and feedback from the general public visiting there. It was an awesome teamwork and artist opportunity for the students- they worked together to paint our space in tempura paint (it creates a chalkboard surface when dry on the asphalt), grid the space in correct dimensions, and blend the mural square by square. It was also great practice for the students to interact with the public and talk about the mural. All around a good time and there were some very awesome, support parents in tow as well!
