Principal Memo
Another week has flown by at Fammatre. Staff had a Run, Hide, and Defend drill with Sartorette this week. We plan to practice a larger drill this year than we have in years past to make sure we are all aware of what to do through an emergency, including student release. We will be sure to let you know ahead of time and will only have a handful of families go through the practice of picking their students up at the end of the drill. Our top priorities are the safety of our students and staff and the efficiency of reuniting students with their parents.
We are working with Valley Sports this week and next week to teach our students the official rules of soccer. Our upper-grade classes will be filming short videos about how to play our recess games and making posters with the rules to hang in the yards. Next week we will have a Student Advisory Board meeting to make posters to advertise Crazy Hair Day and brainstorm our next philanthropic effort.
Tomorrow morning I will be sending out a Google Form to vote for this year's School Site Council. I have had a few volunteers, but each volunteer needs at least one vote to be on the Council. The School Site Council meets four times yearly and participates in district LCAP meetings as necessary. The council is comprised of two teachers, the principal, at least three parents, and our school secretary. We discuss the school's progress, needs, and strategies to work towards our goals. Everyone in our community is invited to attend these meetings, but only members are allowed to weigh in on topics during the meetings.
Have a great weekend!
Samantha Haley

Project Cornerstone Volunteers
Thank you to all those who have volunteered to bring Project Cornerstone books and lessons to your classroom this year. We will have a volunteer introduction meeting over Zoom on Wednesday, September 20th, at 7pm. Please check your email for the zoom link.
We still need Volunteer Readers for the following classrooms:
Mr. Calvert
Mrs. Fisher
Mrs. Ramirez
You do not have to have a student in the class in order to volunteer to be a reader. We also welcome family members, friends, neighbors, and community volunteers who are willing to donate 2 hours a month (one hour for training and one hour in the classroom). Please email Meredith at projectcornerstone.fhsc@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering or have questions.
