Metalloids

Metalliods like silicon have some characteristics from both metals and non-metals.

  • Metalloids can be shiny or dull
  • can be malleable or not malleable which means it can be flatten out
  • and they are better conductors of heat than non-metals but are not as good as metals.

Non-Metals

non-metals like helium.

  • are not good conductors of heat
  • cannot be ductile. so they cant stretch
  • are very brittle so they can break easily
  • are not good conductors of electricity
  • their melting point or boiling point are generally low

Metals

metals like gold are.

  • ductile which means the ore can stretch when soften and that's how they make golden necklaces
  • they are not brittle at all and they are very sturdy
  • their melting point or boiling point are high
  • good conductors of electricity and heat
