Mustang Messenger
2018-2019 School Year: Volume 12: Week of November 19, 2018
Be the Best YOU at Grandview!!!
Short Week.....Lots of News
I stated last week that we were not going to have a Mustang Messenger, this week, but there is so much to report out to all of you and I did not want to miss publicizing the excitement.
This is a short week at school, but a long weekend for family time. Take advantage of this to celebrate and be thankful. Also spend time this long break to read, practice math facts and write with your children on things they are thankful for. Please be sure that even though there is a break from school, we still want learning to happen.
I sure am grateful for Grandview!
Your Proud Principal,
Melissa Carruth, Ed.S

Turkey Trot
Is on Tuesday, November 20th. K-2 will run on the small field and 3-5 will be on the back area soccer field. The students will run the whole thing 10:30-11:15. It is a $1 entry and the money will go towards our families of need for the holidays.
We are going to have the students dress up like Turkeys for the day. Raffle tickets will be passed out at one corner for each grade level. Music to be set up by gaga pit. Raffle ticket winners will win lunch with Mrs. Carruth. There will be “pie” in the face for the students who run the most, get to choose someone to “pie”....teacher or principal. Also medals will be for the student who run the most laps for each class and grade level.
Matt Mair, gym teacher, is organizing this wonderful event for our school. Should you have any questions, please reach out to him. If you want to help this fun event, please sign-up on the following sign-up genius site.

Popcorn Days
Bags of popcorn is $.50 per bag. Limit 2 bags per student.
Holiday Shop
FOG has decided to only do 2 days for Holiday shop this year.
DEC.4 &5 @6:30pm-8pm both nights.
We are going to sell pizzas that night too. See below for more information.
At this event, we would like to have vendors sell their items during these nights. So we are in need of vendors. FOG is still looking for vendors. A % of sales DOES NOT have to go back to FOG. Instead $10 table rate per night or $20 total to book a table.
NOTE: Also we are looking for more volunteers for this event. If you are available to help shoppers, wrapping, and set-up, clean-up, and directing traffic. This is a great event, but we need more help!! Please sign-up at the sign-up genius...
SCRIPTS Gift Card Orders for FOG
The orders are due by 11/26 for a delivery date of 12-7.
Please see the flyer below to see the gift card options that are part of this fundraiser.
Grandview Math Night
Grandview Math Night will be on November 27th. Time is TBD. Our STMath program is sponsored by Ford Motor Company. Engineers from Ford will be joining us on this special night. I just wanted to get the date on the calendar.
Tardy
We have had a lot of students arriving late. Tardies start at 8:40 and will be tracked. If your child comes in after the class did the lunch count, then they will automatically get PB&J as their lunch choice. Lunch counts will not be finalized until after 8:40. If you know your child is going to be late, then please call in the tardy and select your child's lunch choice to ensure that they can get another choice. Our lunch counts are becoming very lopsided and we need to ensure that the children are getting the choice that they signed up for. Also we need our students on time for school!!
OK2Say!
The assembly was a great hit. For more information on the lesson and information that was taught and shared, see below.

Pinter's Wreath to support 5th Grade Campers
The wreaths and poinsettias sale are a 5th graders fundraiser to help the students raise money to go to camp. If other Grandview families would like to purchase wreaths and poinsettias, that would be wonderful as the profit would go into a general fund to sponsor students who may need assistance in raising money.
Wreath orders are due by Nov. 30th (Friday)
Pick up will be Dec. 10th (Monday) 4-6pm at Grandview Elementary School
Checks to be made out to: Clarenceville School District
Attached is the order form and the tracking form with revised pricing.

New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a rewards card.
*Customers must have a registered Kroger rewards card account to link to your organization.
*If a member does not yet have a Kroger rewards card, please let them know they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger
REMEMBER, purchases will not count for your organization until after your participants register their rewards card.
Participants must swipe their registered Kroger rewards card or use the phone number that is related to their registered Kroger rewards card when shopping for each purchase to count.
Bookflix for Grandview Families
The Michigan eLibrary did not renew their subscription to Bookflix. We found great value in this site for our children. Therefore, Grandview purchased a school subscription that allows teachers and students to use the following username and password to access Bookflix at home and at school. Please feel free to use this at home. The link is as follows.....
https://digital.scholastic.com/site/launch/bkflix?ucn=600063987
There is a link on the Library symbaloo and will be putting a link under the student links on the Clarenceville website.
Username: grandvw
Password: flix
If you click on the apple and book in the top right corner, it takes you to a Resources and Tools page where you can search for books, search by themes, running times and grade levels.
This is another way to engage your students with their learning at home.
Enjoy!!!
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
Meetings are underway for both of these great organizations. Girl Scouts will be meeting on Wednesdays and Boy Scouts will be meeting on Mondays at 6:30. Come join the fun!
Transportation Changes
Do not rely on just the office for transportation changes. It is important that you also put it in writing in an email to the teacher. If you alert the teacher and the office, chances are better that the message is delivered accurately. We have so many transportation changes at the end of the day that makes us uneasy that a mistake could occur. Please do not make a change after 3:00!!
