Shout Outs!!!
I want to give a shout out to all of our new teachers at Antelope High School. The stress of jumping into a new department, new PLT and new school can be daunting, stressful and, honestly, downright exhausting. Thanks for being All In this year and giving your all!
Happy Marine Corps birthday to one of my Marine brothers on campus, Randy Morreira! Semper Fi, brother!
Welcome to the joys of testing, Steve Jones. Nice work getting the PSAT organized and implemented this year. There are a lot of moving parts and you did it without seeming like you were going totally crazy (if you were faking it, well done sir, well done!).
Jenny Carroll, you deserve a shout out for just being so consistent every year. You do your thing and you do it well. Thanks for always doing it with a smile.
Mark Armstrong and Rob Richards, you two have a pretty locktight PLT; I knew you two were in sync and in cadence with each other, but seriously, you two are rocking it at the Gov/Econ level for Social Science. Keep on keeping on!!
Mike Dresser and Dustin Thompson, thanks for sticking to your guns and having the moral courage to stay true to your decisions. It's refreshing to see coaches and educators not back down in the face of criticism. Keep that up, gents!
Ryan Varrelman, thanks for jumping in with the National Equity Project this year and helping provide another voice to our team. It's been great to hear your voice, listen to your perspective, and see you jump into the mix. Much appreciated!
If you have any shout outs you would like to share for our next newsletter, please shoot me an email and I will make sure to include it!

Scare Away the Stigma Week
This week our Wellness Center and Bring Change 2 Mind hosted "Scare Away The Stigma" in order to raise awareness about mental illness. Lunchtime activities included mental health trivia, making stress balls, and sharing positive affirmations with peers who may be struggling. It was a huge success and over 200 kids stopped by the table on the first day!
Meet Pancha Her
1. What brought me to education was my High School teacher at Luther Burbank High School. She was a new teacher during my Sophomore year. As a new teacher, my peers gave her a hard time, but I saw her passion to teach, love, and guide. She would try her best to meet our needs. She dedicated her first year with us and a bond of trust was built over time. She was the inspiration why I became an English major.
2. I'm a very simple person. There's really nothing unique about me.
3. The most memorable experience working with students would be the connection/bond I built with them. When I first met the students I worked with, I saw that I wasn't respected as an educator. Over time as I started to get to know them and constantly asking them "what's your good thing?" that's when students started to open up to me. As an educator, this was the best experience! I love working closely with students. Just by working closely with students, it brings me joy because I know that they wanted to succeed and do better for themselves and their family.
4. I'm looking forward to a great year with Antelope! I hope to meet all students and staff expectations!
5. My nationality is Hmong. I'm bilingual in both Hmong and English. If you want to know anything about my culture or is interested, drop by the College & Career Center for a quick chat or send me email! I love sharing stories and religion about my culture and the events we have every year on Thanksgiving week!

Antelope Athletics Update
This week our winter sports got under way with tryouts and the creation of our winter sports teams! Wrestling, boys and girls basketball and boys and girls soccer have begun their season and will look to bring home wins on and off the courts/field of play! If you get a chance, please come out and support these amazing student athletes playing the games that they love. Through education-based athletics, we are trying to transform these athletes into young men and women of high moral character.
Here is our athletic departments purpose statement:
We coach to develop young athletes into men and women of integrity, who will serve and lead others to make a positive impart in their communities."
