Module Seven: Waves
North Carolina Virtual Public Schools, Mrs. Melissa Partin
March 7th - This Week's Assignments and Deadlines
Are you ready to learn about waves? In this module, you will be learning more than just about ocean waves, you'll learn about other surface waves and about mechanical and electromagnetic waves. There are a lot of different types of waves. In this module you'll learn about the properties and behaviors of different types of waves. Get amped, because here we go learning about waves.
It is important that you, the student, use the pacing guide that I provide each week to track your progress with your weekly assignments! All assignments for Module Seven are due on Friday, March 11th at midnight. Click below for the Module Seven Pacing Guide.
Also, you will need to utilize the Physical Science Reference Table this week which provides essential formulas for our mathematical problems. Click here to download the Reference Table.
MODULES 1-8 WILL BE CLOSING SOON!
The end of the first 9 weeks is Friday, March 18th! All students should be on pace and have submitted all of their work for Modules 1-8 by midnight on Friday, March 18th. Once grades have been reported, all Physical Science teachers with NCVPS will be closing Modules 1-8 so that students can focus on working in Modules 9-16 the rest of the semester.

Online Textbook (ck12.org): Waves Chapter
As we continue to move through Module Seven, you may find that you would like to have an online text to utilize as a resource. Take a look at this site for extra support: http://www.ck12.org/book/CK-12-Physical-Science-For-Middle-School/section/19.0/
Semester Timeline
Please be sure to look at the semester pacing below. You will notice that we do not have a scheduled Spring Break but there are two weeks that are provided for the completion of Module 10. All students should be working to get on pace as soon as possible--remember, assignments lost 10 points for each week that they are submitted late. Also, the next module will not open until the previous module is completed.
Checking Grades
Students should know that their grades within Canvas are updated every 24 hours, Monday through Friday. If a parent/guardian would like to view their child's grades, they should obtain the username and password of the student and sign in at http://ncvps.instructure.com or contact me. For more information on how to view grades in Canvas, please view the video below originally posted within the first newsletter.
