Hickman Hawks
A family of LEARNERS built on RESPECT and focused on GROWTH!
Sunday, January 8, 2023
Good Evening Hickman Families,
We are so excited to see the students return for the 2nd half of the year tomorrow! We hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break and are rested and ready to start the 2nd Semester strong!
Let's start the new year right by committing to be ON TIME EVERY DAY!!!! Our school day begins promptly at 8am!! PLEASE have your children at school on time every day! We are still having problems with chronic tardies. Students are missing morning announcements and community building activities in their class. Excessive tardies can add up to an entire day's absence. Thank you to those families that had their students arrive on time this week! Remember, every minute counts, and we want our students to begin their day prepared and settled.
Be sure to check out our website at HickmanHawks.com for updates and for information already posted such as our supply lists and dress code update (all linked below).

What does the PTA do?
PTAs serve as a forum where parents, teachers, administrators and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education. PTA addresses issues that are important to parents, teachers, and public-school administrators. PTA organizes fun, educational school and community events. PTA raises money to support school needs. PTA creates a village that helps to raise our kids which is vitally important in the current climate of our country.

Schoolstore.net Fundraiser Continues!!
We want to personally thank all the families who have already participated in our SchoolStore fundraiser! We are on our way to reaching our goal, but we need everyone's help to make sure our teachers get the essential tools they need to help our students succeed.
Many teachers have already used their gift cards to purchase items for your child's classroom!
This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Your child will receive a prize just for participating, and more prizes will be awarded when goals are reached.
Please help now. It really will make a difference.
Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000027641 to show our valued teachers your support.

Welcome back Hickman Family!!
I am Tammie Hudson, your Advocacy Center Coach. The Advocacy Center is a room in your child’s school where students can visit to practice important skills and learn ways they can help themselves calm down or manage big feelings. My role in the school is to help students and families learn ways they can support their social and emotional health and wellness. I really enjoy working with children and would love to connect with you too!
In this room we work on the following skills (breathing, walking and meditation). This helps to regulate ourselves. As the Advocacy Center Coach these are things we talk about daily! I hope to be in touch with you to talk about the tools your child is learning in the Advocacy Center. You are welcome to send me an email at Tammie.Hudson@mnps.org
