A Commitment to Caring for Our Community
As you know, Hingham Middle School and the Hingham Public School system as a whole are committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families to create a safe and healthy learning environment. In support of our ongoing commitment, we have partnered with Care Solace to provide an additional layer of care for our community.
Care Solace helps individuals find mental health care providers and substance use treatment centers. Their Care Companion™ team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year to quickly connect you to carefully verified providers in your community.
Students, staff, and families may access Care Solace services in two ways:
Call (888) 515-0595 at any time. Support is available in 200+ languages. A dedicated Care Companion™ will help you every step of the way to research options, secure appointments, and follow up to make sure it is a good fit.
For an anonymous search, answer a few questions to get matched with an extensive list of care providers at www.caresolace.com/hinghamschools.
Care Solace is now available for use at no cost to you. They will connect you with providers accepting all medical insurances including Medicaid, Medicare, and sliding scale options for those without insurance. All information entered on the Care Solace tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
Please note, this service is an optional resource available by choice and is not mandatory to use. Care Solace is not an emergency response service or mental health services provider. In the event of a life threatening emergency, please call 9-1-1 or the National Suicide Hotline 9-8-8.
If you are interested in counseling-related services for your child, yourself, or another family member, please contact Care Solace for valuable assistance. This is a resource provided by Hingham Public Schools.
Additionally, the buttons below will connect you to related pages on our school and district websites.
Executive Functioning Tips and Tricks
In order to help your middle schooler build on and develop their executive functioning skills, remember to work with them and not for them. While it may seem easier in the short term to do things for your child, it does little to help them develop the capacity for greater independence. Instead of going through binders and backpacks and organizing their materials, sit with them and help them to determine what is important to keep and what they can recycle. Help them to take ownership of their learning and you'll all be happier in the long run!

Help is Here
HMS wants to remind all members of our community that we are here to help. We understand that it can be especially challenging to make ends meet at this time of year, so please reach out if you need assistance. You can contact members of our counseling staff, administrative team, or any adult connected with HMS with whom you feel comfortable.

Week-at-a-Glance and After School Opportunities
Please take a look at the attached Week-at-a-Glance document to get an idea of what we have to offer next week, as well as our comprehensive list of activities, when they usually occur, and how to obtain additional information about them.
We also want to remind students and families that we provide late buses for students staying after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Please remember to pay your activity fee if your middle-schooler plans to take part in these programs.
We hope to see you after 2:00!!!
PTO News
It’s hard to believe it is already the holiday season! In effort to spread holiday cheer, there are a few ways to reach out to teachers, staff and our community.
CARD CARE STATION
There is a Card Care Station set up in the Main Office where students are welcome and encouraged to make cards for teachers, staff, loved ones or friends for any occasion. Since the holidays will be different for many families in our community this year, we are asking students to make Holiday Greeting Cards which will be distributed to local families on behalf of all-Town PTOs and the Board of Select. If your child does not want to make a card for a specific family, they can simply address the envelope to “Hingham Friend” and they will be distributed accordingly.
Please remind your student to do this sometime next week. Cards will be picked up on Monday, December 19.
HOLIDAY EMAIL BLAST FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF
We would like all parents and students to storm our teacher and staff inboxes with emails on December 22! Holiday wishes, thank you notes or just a kind word will make a difference! We are asking everyone to email at least one teacher or staff member on December 22. Emails can be created early and set to send at a later date so do it whenever you have a chance!
TEACHER/STAFF WISHLISTS
Many of our teachers, teams and departments have put together Amazon wish lists for items needed to enrich our students’ learning.
Please Note: All items should be sent to your home and then delivered to school in a bag labeled with the name of the teacher/team recipient.
FINALLY . . .
There will not be a PTO meeting on Thursday, December 15. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or comments! dalykare@gmail.com
