Amendment 1

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What does this actually mean in English?

This mean that the people of the U.S.A. have freedom of speech and religion.

This amendment helps me because my religion is protestant for German.

Amendment 5

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

What does this Amendment mean in English

In English this amendment means that when you are found they arrest you then send you to court and prosecute you. Also they don't take any of your property away from you rights.

How does this Amendment help me?

This Amendment can help me because when I get in trouble for something and I have a car they can take the car away but they will prosecute you for your crime.
