The Harris Family
Many of you know that the Harris Family was involved in a tragic accident that left one of our sweet students, Lucy Harris, paralyzed from the waist down. We are anticipating her return to school in about 6-8 weeks. The family has shared that Lucy is doing well considering this life-changing event. She is a ray of sunshine and positivity in all she does. If you would like to donate to the family’s Go Fund Me, please click here. We continue to share our love and support with the family.
Welcome New Staff
We are excited to welcome two new staff members to our Lenski Family!
Beth Assouline joins us from East Elementary and will be our new English Language Development Teacher.
Laura Myers joins us from Jeffco and will teach 3rd Grade.
We are very excited for their love of teaching and expertise that they bring with them.
New Roles within Lenski
You will see a few familiar faces in new roles this year. Tamara Nolting is replacing Nancy Seavall as our Registrar. We are thrilled to have her join our Front Office Staff. Abbie Gilmour is moving from Kindergarten to 1st Grade and Nikki Capps is moving from 1st Grade to 2nd Grade.
From LPS Transportation
Dear LPS Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer break. Our team has been working diligently at making all the adjustments needed for our new bell times, additional programs, and our ongoing driver shortage.
Our goal in Transportation is to provide our district schools and families with excellent service that is simply a safe, steady, and reliable service that our students look forward to each and every day.
To accomplish this goal, we reviewed all of our general education routes and made some adjustments to reduce total routes and to run our routes more efficiently. These changes may have impacted you in the following ways:
- Consolidating stops within our neighborhoods; stopping less increases our timeliness
- Combining routes with low ridership; our goal is to fill our buses with students (77 elementary, 65 middle schools, and 55 high schools); our GEN ED buses have a capacity of 77.
- Walking boundary stop removals; we removed stops that fall within our Board determined walking boundaries; 1 mile elementary; 1.5 miles middle school and high school.
Due to our current shortages, we may have days when meeting our goal of being steady and reliable is simply not possible. As we are made aware of our inability to meet this goal for various reasons, we will notify you as soon as possible. Notices will be sent out the day prior whenever possible, but in most cases, if we are going to be delayed our goal is to notify all schools and parents by 6:00 am. You will be notified via email, text, and voicemail about the delay and will have a choice to make to self-transport or wait for the bus which will run after other routes (approximately 9:00 am). The schools will be notified of the delay along with you. This may also impact the afternoon ride. Our goal is to notify the schools and families by noon if the bus will be delayed for the p.m. I would ask that families prepare a backup plan for these cases. Parent transport is preferred so our school staff is not required to extend their day on these occasions. We will do our best to have a bus available at the school for students that are unable to get home otherwise.
We appreciate your support and understanding. We are looking forward to a safe, fun, and successful year!
