Create Happiness Throughout Our School
Dear Johnson Steam Academy Families:
Educators across the country are discovering the importance of building a positive student culture inside their classrooms. Research shows that instilling and encouraging positive character strengths, such as kindness, compassion and perseverance, is just as important to our children as the basics of learning math and reading. Today, we want our kids to grow up in a world that celebrates character strengths and promotes their overall well-being.
Live Happy, along with myself, invite you to take part in the happiness movement! On Tuesday, March 20th, we will be celebrating the International Day of Happiness by having a happiness wall in the gallery at the school. As the kids go from lunch to recess, they will be invited to post a note on the wall saying how they will spread happiness to others.
On this day, we also want to encourage the kids to wear a color that makes them happy. Or if they have a favorite shirt with a positive message on it, that would be great too!
You can learn more about #HappyActs and our celebration on the International Day of Happiness on March 20 of every year at happyacts.org

Summer Sing 2018 Performing Arts - Show Choir Camp
Hello Families,
I am bringing my yearly performing arts/show choir camp to Franklin Middle School this summer. The 21st Annual camp is for any 6-9th grade student in 2018-2019. (Also open to students from other schools). The camp is a great opportunity to build skills in singing, dancing and drama, of all ability levels. The camp is also a great way to get a jump-start on the 2018-2019 show choir season at Franklin Middle School.
Please feel free to forward this email to other interested families, as well as current 5th grade students. I will also send the information to the directors at the elementary feeder schools. The camp capacity is 65 students.
Let me know if you have any questions. Hope your child is able to attend.
