UNSCHEDULED early school closings

In an effort to alleviate the dismissal confusion on UNSCHEDULED early school closings (days not on the school calendar), we ask you to complete the following form. Please be very clear and specific as this is the only information teachers and staff will reference on Emergency Early Dismissal days. There is no need to call the school. Please complete a SEPARATE FORM for each child.

Emergency Early Dismissal Form

If your child will be absent from school, please call the attendance line at (203) 264-8283 #2 and send in a note explaining the absence upon your child's return to school. You may also notify us of your child's absence and upload medical documents online using the following link:

If you need to discuss medical questions with Mrs. Cronin, please call her directly at (203) 264-6230.

To communicate important information clearly, efficiently, and effectively to large numbers of community members, Region 15 uses a variety of systems.

School Messenger can contact parents via email, phone calls and/or texts. Communication preferences can be selected by parents/guardians through their School Messenger Account.

Parents/guardians you can receive texts only if you opted in. School Messenger only sends a text once when the system realizes you are a new family. To opt in please send a text message of Y to 67587. This will automatically opt you into receiving text messages.

In general, when we are communicating with you when students are not in school, messages will arrive as email, text messages, and be posted to our website and social media sites.

When students are in our care, we will also include phone calls. Our goal is to communicate with you in passive ways where you have options on how to access messages so when you see a call from our district you know it is of a more pressing matter.

Student Information Form

The nurse's office has sent a copy of the Student Information Form home. Please review, sign and return a form for each student. If you wish to make changes, please indicate the changes directly on the form. Even if you do not need to make changes, you will still sign and return the form for your student.

Start the school year off with this great way to celebrate your child's birthday, a special day, or to honor a special teacher. Through the Adopt-A-Book Program, you or your child may choose a book from our selection of new books located in the Media Center.

Once the title has been chosen, a dedication bookplate will be placed in the book.

Your child will also be the FIRST reader to check out the book!

When the book is returned, it will be placed on the library shelves for all the students to enjoy!

Fill out the form linked below and send it to Mrs. Mastropietro in the PES Media Center.

Our Math Coach, Mrs. Smith, was in Mrs. Rosa's room doing some math play.

International Dot Day

Today students celebrated International Dot Day. Many children have been working on dot artwork with Miss Krivensky after listening to the story. At 1pm today some of the PES classes participated in a Live Flipgrid Event with Peter Reynolds, author of the Dot! Very exciting!

There are many ways to learn about the exciting things happening here at PES!

We continue to implement mitigation strategies we used from last year (e.g. mask wearing, hand hygiene, physical distancing), we will continue to follow the guidance of local and state health officials with respect to keeping our school community safe.

Be on the lookout for detailed updates from Superintendent Smith.
