KSD Update
What to do if you are experiencing COVID symptoms?
Illness Decision Tree Shifts to Red
Our district’s illness decision tree recommendations relies on the level of community spread of COVID in the City of Kuna only.
As of Friday, Sept. 17, the City of Kuna is in “red” substantial community spread. We will review this again on Oct. 1.
This changes when those absent and reporting COVID-19 symptoms can return to school or work.
We ask all staff and students with COVID symptoms to follow the red path on the district’s illness decision tree. This is in place to help slow the spread of the virus.
Please stay home if you are experiencing symptoms and follow either Option 1 or 2 on the red track.
If you need a test for Option 1, please contact the school nurse at your child’s school or your workplace for KSD employees. Each school has free PCR tests available.
Mask use not required at any school
Our mask policy relies on two data points: spread in the City of Kuna and positive cases within each school building over a two-week period.
On Friday, Sept. 17 based on the data available at noon for the prior two weeks, mask use per our policy is recommended for individuals in all schools except Reed. Reed remains masks optional for individuals.
Masks optional and recommended in schools will remain in place for the weeks of Sept. 20-Oct. 1. Friday, Oct. 1. Under the mask policy, the next review of mask use will be Friday, Oct. 1.

When will the next review of the illness tree and mask use in schools happen?
Determinations on the illness tree and mask use are made every two weeks.
The current decisions outlined in this communication were made Friday, Sept. 17 and will be in place from Sept.2 0 to Oct. 1.
The next review will be Friday, Oct. 1 and will apply to the weeks of Oct. 4-8 and Oct. 11-15.
Information will be shared in the Weekly Update from Superintendent Johnson and posted on websites.
