Reader's Workshop - Fluency and Comprehension

Writer's Workshop-How to organize writing expository writing: Main Idea, supporting it with details, using persuasive language, revising writing

Students will be working on planning an expository writing (writing which makes a statement or gives your opinion) and factual details to support the statement or opinion.

Math - Place Value to 1200, Junior Achievement

Science -Natural Resources -Water

Social Studies- Free Enterprise-Natural Resources and Goods, Production sequence

How decisions of leaders in our community effect goods and services of our community.

Student Led Conferences

Our school will be offering student-led conferences. Students are learning to develop their own personalized plan with specific goals to enhance their personal skill set. Student-led conferences are to be held on February 18th or March 3rd. At the student-led conferences your child will share with you what he/she feels are his/her strengths and weaknesses. You are receiving a sign-up sheet today where you can indicate your preferences of date and time.

If you have concerns about your child's progress, you may sign up for a teacher led conference on February 17th.

*If you do not have concerns at this time, a conference is not required.


Valentines Celebration

Love is about to be in the air again this year! Each year students celebrate Valentine's Day by collecting valentines from classmates and then opening them during our party.

Please allow your child to bring a their valentines and a decorated box (no larger than a shoebox) to school beginning February 8, but no later than the 11th.

Our party will be held on February 12 beginning at 1:45. Parents are welcome to join us.

Limbs 4 LIfe

Thanks to all of you who donated online or allowed your child to bring in change for our class donation! The project was very successful and our 5th graders are so proud of their efforts. The final amount was approximately $2400.00 which exceeds their original goal. Mr. Mucha's class were the biggest givers in Second grade. Congrats!

K-5th grade students may participate in the Take Care of Texas Art Contest.

Entries must be postmarked on or before March 2, 2016.

15 winners will receive one Samsung tablet each and thhe Grand Prize winner will receive a Samsung laptop.
