Combine international travel with academic coursework on intensive summer programs led by UC Berkeley faculty and lecturers.


Berkeley Summer Abroad programs are composed of academic courses, thought-provoking activities, and excursions designed to make the most of their extraordinary locations. Led and taught by UC Berkeley faculty, these programs provide you with an opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture.


Financial aid and scholarships are available for UC Berkeley students.


This year, Berkeley Abroad has an unprecedented amount of scholarship money for need-based awards. All students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $50,000 or less are guaranteed a scholarship of $1,500. Qualifying participants will automatically received the award - no application is necessary.

Eligibility

UC Berkeley students, students from other colleges and universities, international students, and adults with interest in study abroad are encouraged to apply.


In order to apply, all participants must:

  • Have successfully completed at least one year of college course work by the start of the program
  • Have a 2.0 GPA or higher


*Some programs have additional eligibility requirements

How to Apply

Applications open on February 1, 2013 and closes March 15, 2013. Applicants must include an official or unofficial copy of your transcript and a $400 non-refundable deposit. Interested participants are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
