Maldonado Mountain Lions
April 2023
Letter from the Principal
Dear Maldonado Families,
We had an exciting end to March with career day on Friday. Students loved learning about careers in Search and Rescue, Fire Fighting, Emergency Medical Technicians, Robotic Systems, U.S. Army, and Empire CAT.
As we enter April our third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be participating in state assessments in Reading, Writing, and Math for a total of five assessments. These are comprehensive assessment and untimed so students are able to use an entire school day. It is extremely important that students are on time. If they are tardy and the test has begun they will not be permitted to enter the testing environment and will be placed in an alternative classroom until all students in their regular class have finished testing for the day. Students who are late or absent will be pulled for make up testing throughout the month of April. You can help by ensuring that your student gets a good nights rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and is at school on time.
Interested in ways to support your student during state testing? Please read this article.

I want to remind all of our families to complete your students registration for the 23-24 school year on ParentVue as soon as possible. This helps us ensure that we have enough staff and avoid large class sizes.
We ask that you continue to contact Cindy in the office 520-908-4100 and let us know when your child is absent. It is very important we want to ensure our students are safe and want everyone to be aware that unexcused absences not only affect school funding but also imped the learning process.
Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for April 1 and hope you are able to join us. We would love to meet you and assist with setting up for Science Night. We will be in the cafeteria at 2:15 pm.
Please remember learning begins at 7:45 am every morning and it is important that students are in line prior to that time. It is very challenging for students who are routinely late to adjust and catch up on their morning routines.

Talking Trash KOLD-Subaru Recycling Challenge
From April 3- April 28 Maldonado and Tully Elementary schools will be participating in the

Some of our students will even be recording recycling tips for the social media campain. The winning school earns a pizza lunch for our SCHOOL! Mountain Lions unite!
You can help us by brining your recycling and putting them in our bin. You can drop off recycling anytime between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
