Life Group Leaders Weekly
WEEK SIX (February 25 - March 3)
OUR MISSION
TO CULTIVATE
"MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS CENTERED ON GOD'S WORD AND PRAYER"
LIFE GROUP UPDATE
Hello Life Group Leaders!
I just wanted to remind you to be sure to listen in to the Life Group Leaders Weekly "AUDIO GUIDE." This resource is provided to help you prepare and effectively lead your group.
It provides you with added context to questions, additional follow-up questions you could ask, as well as some guidance on how to go about certain questions. For example, we might share with you whether a certain question is higher risk or good for everyone to answer.
We have chosen to give you this in an audio format so that you can listen to this on your lunch break or on your way home from work. Simply click on the Life Group Leaders Audio link below and you can download the file.
Let's get in to the logistics for this week...
In Christ,
Pastor Justin
TIP OF THE WEEK!
This Week's Tip of the Week - #6 "VISITATION GUIDE"
This is the resource we have crafted to help aid our "Congregational Care Team Leaders." Like you, these men and women are on the frontlines providing ministry to members of this congregation. They have care districts and strategically try to visit the elderly, shut in, and bereaved, as well as members of our church not in a Life Group. Our Care Team Leaders are your counterpart, seeking to ensure each member of First CRC can say they are:
1. Genuinely known
2. Lovingly supported, and if necessary,
3. Can be honestly challenged in faith.
The attached guide has helpful resources on how to care for people on a one-on-one basis. Take a look! To see the full document, click the link below to go to our RESOURCES tab:
THINGS TO REMEMBER
1) LEADER/HOST TANDEMS - Remember that you are encouraged to meet together as a Leader/Host team each week independently of group time for planning, mutual encouragement, and post-group meeting evaluation. Remember that you are a TEAM! Lean on one another.
2) DRINKS WHEN PEOPLE ARRIVE
GOALS FOR THE GROUP MEETING
- Build Relationships!
- Discuss Homework
- Prayer - Also consider praying in smaller groups. This allows for more voices to pray, and also makes it less intimidating for those still learning to pray out loud.
IMPORTANT DATES AND ANNOUCEMENTS
ATTENDANCE ROSTERS:
- Keep up the good work!
LEADERS WEBPAGE - "AUDIO GUIDE"
- Be sure to check out the weekly audio guides for an in-depth look at the homework questions. Be sure to check it out each week. Simply go to: http://hanfordcrc.org/lifegroups/leader-tools
SERVE & SOCIALS:
- Talk to your group about the Serve/Social contest for a chance to win the $250 gift card. Remember the hashtag #CRCLIFEGROUPS
FEEDBACK FORMS:
- none this week.
TEAM HUDDLE:
- Get together as a Leader/Host tandem and evaluate how things are going at the halfway point in the semester.
- Begin thinking and praying about who you think would make an ideal candidate as a possible future leader or host. Then consider telling that person you see their gifts and think they would make a great leader and asking that person if they would be interested in leading. We will ask you in two weeks to make a referral.
THIS WEEK in our Sermon Series "The Acceptable Sins of Christians"
Matthew 6:19-24
Title:
Workaholism
Pastor's Notes:
Someone who has no job might be referred to as ‘bum’ or a ‘freeloader,’ but someone who spends copious time and energy in the workplace is often see as a hard worker to be admired. The bible speaks to both as ditches to avoid on our spiritual journey. Why is it that one is admired and the other condemned?
LIFE GROUP LEADER SERMON GUIDE NOTES & AUDIO - From Julie Mendes

- A PDF and Leader Audio is on our "Life Group Leaders Page" website.

SERVE/SOCIALS
Leaders and Hosts,
As you meet with your teams to complete your service projects and social events, be sure to take lots of pictures and videos! After that, here are two more things you can do:
- Send your pics and videos to Heather Thomas at: hnthomas.2002@gmail.com, and
- Post your pics and videos on Facebook with the hashtag #CRCLifeGroups (we will only be able to see the posts with the proper hashtag link). Also, be sure to express why you love your Life Group in the post.
Once all 10 groups have completed their service projects we will do a random draw for every individual email with videos/pictures to Heather and social media interaction from your group (max of 2 per individual).
