May 27, 2022 Principal Update
2021-2022 School Year
Dear Tilghman Families,
We are in the final stretch of our school year. Here are a few updates and reminders to keep you informed.
School Safety
Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims and the community of Uvalde. It is hard to comprehend such a horrific tragedy or to restore our feelings of safety. Please take comfort in knowing that our first priority at TES and TCPS is the protection and safety of our children and staff members. We will remain vigilant and continue to follow all safety protocols and security procedures. Our staff is knowledgable and we recognize our tremendous responsibility to each life in our care.
Below you will find a resource for 'Helping Children Cope with Tragedy.'
There is NO SCHOOL on 5/30/22 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
Calendar Revision
The Board of Education approved a revision to the school calendar at their May meeting. June 8 and June 9 will now be early dismissal days (12:05) for students to allow teachers adequate time to finalize grades prior to the last day of school on June 10th. June 10th will also be an early dismissal day for students as well.
TCPS Out of Area Link
Any families who need to complete an Out of Area Request for their child to attend TES, need to do so by June 1st. This needs to be completed each year. You can complete the application on the TCPS website or through the link below:

ATTENTION....Mark Your Calendars- 5th Grade Graduation and School Picnic
DUE TO THE REVISED END OF THE YEAR CALENDAR DAYS- NOTE THE TIME DIFFERENCE
Our 5th grade graduation ceremony will be Thursday, June 9th now at 9:00 a.m. Following graduation, we will have a school wide picnic. 5th grade families are invited to graduation and all families are invited to attend lunch from 10:30-11:30. We will be eating outside. Bring your beach towels or blankets to sit on. If you would like to purchase a school lunch, please call Ms. Debby to order. Adult lunches are $4.00. Our PTO has arranged a special treat for each student. Dismissal will begin at 12:05.
Water Bottles
As the weather is getting warmer, it is especially important for students to come to school with a water bottle. We have refillable water stations. Please remind your child to pack his/her water bottle each day. We would be especially grateful for donations of cases of water for students who forget their water bottles.
Media Center
Please return any library books that may be at home!
