What is a fad diet?
A fad diet is a weight loss plan that promises drastic effects. Don't result in long-term weight loss, only short term. Most are not healthy, some are dangerous.
Juice Cleansing
Juice fasting (also known as "juice cleansing") is a controversial fasting method and a detox diet in which a person consumes only fruit and vegetable juices to obtain nutrition while otherwise abstaining from food consumption. Juice fasts may last anywhere from a few days to several weeks.
Tapeworm
The tapeworm fad diet is when people ingest a tapeworm into their stomach. It is said to absorb food and help lose weight. There are many bad consequences including headaches, pain, meningitis, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Cabbage Soup Diet
The cabbage soup diet is when people eat large amounts of cabbage soup for a week, but only for a week because any longer can be harmful. They are allowed to eat certain fruits, vegetables, and meats but only on a set schedule. It is said to be a quick way to lose a few pounds.
Jenny Craig
The Jenny Craig diet includes frozen breakfasts, lunches, and dinners that are created to have 60% carbohydrate, 20% protein and 20% fat. Fruit, vegetables and nonfat dairy products are recommended to supplement the prepackaged meals. This diet limits calories to about 1200 a day.
Short Term Effects
You will lose weight temporarily, but you will simply gain all the weight back. These effects are all temporary. It also slows down your metabolism.
Long Term Effects
