It's Finally Happening

I can’t believe that it is finally here! After almost 6 years of planning, preparing, and constructing, it is time to move into the new building! This Thursday and Friday, teachers will be busy packing up their classrooms in preparation for the move – they will be moving us beginning next Saturday. Remember there is NO school for students on Thursday & Friday.

This Wednesday, teachers will be sending home laptops and work assignments for Thursday & Friday. Students will also be bringing home a t-shirt that we'd like to have everyone wear on our first day in the new building! We did our best to plan for sizes and do not have any additional shirts for trading. If you would like to order additional spirit wear, please follow the link below.

Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for updates on the first day - Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022

Franklin Pierce Schools and Tacoma Pierce County Health Department are partnering to offer free COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5-11 as well as adult boosters (Pfizer) at the Family Resource Center at 315 129th St S. The vaccine is not required for students, but will minimize the likelihood of needing to quarantine upon exposure. Click here to sign up for an appointment and to access the necessary documents for your children. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins will be served as time is available.

It's December, and that means the weather forecast is getting colder! We do go out to recess every day so it is important that students have warm coats and shoes for outside. If your child is missing their coat, please have them check our lost and found! We have many student coats and hats just waiting to be claimed. All unclaimed clothing will be given to a charity during Winter Break. Please be sure your child's name is in their coat, so it can be returned if left on the playground.

Speaking of weather, it sounds like snow may be in our future. Please be sure to check our district website for news regarding late starts or snow days.

Children ages 3-5 who reside within the Franklin Pierce School District are eligible for free developmental screening. Hearing, vision, kindergarten readiness, speech and language, motor skills, and behavior are checked. Screenings take place regularly. See their web page here. To schedule an appointment, call the Early Learning Center Child Find hotline at 253-298-4658.

If you have a pre-school age child in your household, he or she may be eligible for the Head Start or ECEAP preschools at the Dr. Frank Hewins Early Learning Center. To learn more about the Early Learning Center and to access an application, click here.
