Welcome to the Doghouse
TCHS Presents: Bulldog Business Vol.#5
Principal's Note
Hello Tri-Cities families,
Many believe high school is the time to release teenage children to explore their final years of secondary school. This couldn’t be further from the truth. As I look back on my high school years, I recall a smart and confused young lady trying to figure out the world. While high school students are complicated, at the core they seek structure and guidance to make sense of a very exciting and confusing time in their lives; I guess that’s what makes this time so complicated. Times that force them to choose socializing with friends or study time and, to a larger degree, whether to standout rather than fit in with equally confused friends.
As we approach the semester midpoint, now is a great time to review your child’s interim progress report. The report was sent home with students September 25 - please log in to Home Access to view grades. As you discuss your child’s progress pose questions about future goals, dedicated study time, their passion, and whether the grades reflect their future plans. Carve out dedicated study time and ask questions about homework assignments. Each student received a 3 ring binder that should be full of notes and assignments from all classes. While our school is working hard to improve, it is critical that we have the support of parents to help us meet performance goals. While many of our students arrive to school on time and prepared for the day, parental support is needed to reach 100%. I hope to see you at our parent conference event Tuesday, October 23 from 5 PM - 7 PM. You will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers, counselors, and administrators.

Title I Updates
This is just a brief reminder that our School-Family Compact and PFEP (Parental Family Engagement Plan) will be coming home during the second week of October. Each year, Title I schools across the country, publish a School-Family Compact. The Compact explains the goals of Fulton County Schools, the mission and goals of Tri-Cities High School, and how those goals can be achieved through the combined efforts of the school, parents and guardians, and students.
Families are asked to read the Compact and sign the Compact Signature Sheet for each child enrolled at TCHS. The Signature Sheet will need to be returned to each students homeroom teacher as soon as possible or the Parent Liaison.
