To develop students awareness of scientific enquiry through Forensic Science and the applications, techniques and authentic processes used within a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI). A hands-on workshop which also introduces elements of the Criminal Justice System


  • Raise the profile of Science within the school and contribute to achievement and aspirations in Science

  • Learn about new topics and try new and exciting ideas in a neutral ‘non-classroom’ type environment

  • Increase interest and attitude towards Science and STEM subjects

  • Encourage independent and collaborative working, in order to solve scientific problems

  • Give students a good overall knowledge of Forensic Science and the Criminal Justice System
  • Engage the students in Scientific enquiry using Forensic Science
  • Give students the opportunity to explore a variety of different disciplines of Forensic Science
  • Allow students to participate in practical ‘hands-on’ science activities using authentic forensic equipment
  • Broaden students awareness of Science and STEM subjects, encouraging them to be active and curious
  • Teach students that Science is all around them - gain a greater understanding of scientific enquiry and its wider aspects
  • Allow students to gain confidence in their own thoughts, in addition to communicating their ideas to different groups, whilst problem solving
  • Students will learn how these Forensic Science techniques relate and integrate into everyday life and the importance that this specialist skill-set plays within today’s Criminal Justice System, encouraging & supporting Crime Prevention
