Hello, Castle View Families:

I wanted to make sure you're aware that we will have one more day of adjusted schedule to make up for the snow day we missed this week!

We will have extended advisement on Monday for a Senior class meeting and to meet with advisements for registration, as a make up for the snow day. The extended advisement schedule is pictured below for your reference!

As always, thank you for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

School Accountability Committee Update

The CVHS School Accountability Committee (SAC) met last week. We reviewed our unified improvement efforts, and the committee gave Dr. Templeton guidance about our priorities in regard to the 2023-24 Budget. You can view all SAC agendas and minutes HERE.

Our next meeting will be held on Feb 1, 2023 at 6:30pm. Our focus will continue to be on budget.

SAC is a great way to be involved with the school and be informed of happenings at CV. We are looking to elect to new officers for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested in running for a position, please attend our April 5 meeting at 6:30. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Dissel: eanderson_23@Yahoo.com

Class of 2023 ~ Fill out this Survey!

In the yearbook, we allow seniors include a list of school-sponsored clubs and activities they've participated in. Students should complete this survey to have school-sponsored clubs, activities and athletics listed with their name in the yearbook. Outside of school activities may not be included.

Due Friday, Jan. 27!

Battle of the Rock Basketball Student Tickets!

350 Student Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, January 24 during both lunches. Each student may only purchase one ticket. Remember that the athletics pass will NOT get students into this game; they need to purchase a ticket.

Attention Class of 2023!

Families of Juniors and Seniors

Beginning on January 17, 2023 and continuing through February 16, 2023, students taking the SAT School Day in April 2023 may opt into the optional essay.

Students must log into their CollegeBoard accounts to opt into the essay. The CollegeBoard defaults students to the SAT without Essay. Castle View High School administration cannot opt students in directly. The optional essay is only available for the SAT. There is not an optional essay on the PSAT 9 or the PSAT 10.

If you or your student has questions about the benefits of the optional essay, please have your student make an appointment with Ms. Malson or their counselor.

CVHS Winter Dance

CV's Winter Dance is on Saturday, January 28th from 7:00-10:00 pm. Students can purchase tickets during the week of the dance at lunches in the commons. As always, if students wish to bring a guest from another school, they need to fill out the guest form and obtain the proper signatures in order to get it approved. All guest forms are due by January 27th at noon to Post Grad. No forms will be collected at the dance as they need to be verified in advance. Thank you!

Perseverance Scholarship Application

The primary purpose of these scholarships is to assist students who might not otherwise be able to continue their education and who demonstrate a unique ability to persevere through life's challenges. These scholarships are for one year only and may be used for any college or vocational program. Money is transferred directly to the recipient's postsecondary college or institution.

Please submit this completed application by Friday, February 17, 2023 at 3pm.

Scholarship recipients and their parents will be invited to attend a District Administrator's meeting in May for an awards presentation where high school principals will present the awards. We encourage the student's family, counselor, and a favorite teacher (from any grade) to also attend. Please refer questions to your high school counselor.

Criteria For Selection:
Scholastic Record - Include your GPA and any test score available.
School/Community work experience should be included in the space provided.
Applicant's responses to short essay questions.
Financial Need - The need for financial assistance is a major factor of consideration. A parent/guardian must sign in the space designated. Your application will not be considered if information for this section is missing or incomplete.

Volunteer Opportunity!

We are in search of several adult volunteers to proctor Advanced Placement exams in early May 2023. Volunteer proctors will allow our teachers and special service providers to stay in classrooms helping students learn rather than proctoring half-day exams.

Commitment: One 90-minute training in mid-April 2023 and one four-hour morning or afternoon session May 1-5 or 8-12 2023. All training will be provided.

Please fill out this interest survey if you would consider helping us out.
