Valley Vocal program is one of the best and well-known vocal programs in Iowa! You get the opportunity to learn and grow as a singer in a group setting as well as in an individual setting. The Valley Vocal Program is loads of fun and you wont regret it if you join!
How to join?
To be a part of a regular class period choir, all you have to do is sign up for the class at the beginning of the year when you're determining your schedule. If you're interesting in auditioning to be a part in a more advanced, selective choir, you can sign up to audition when the time comes.
Additional Outside of School Choirs
Showchoir
If you love to dance and perform, show-choir is the choir for you. There are two show-choirs, Choralation (the top group) and Ignition (the JV group). They are directed by the two top directors at Valley: Mr. Degnen and Miss. Gibbons. These choirs practice once a week and they work hard. Most of the time the songs they sing and perform are more modern and upbeat, as this style is easiest to dance to. After the entire show is put together, the show-choirs travel and compete in many competitions and often do very well in them. Show-choir is a very fun extracurricular activity to do. Although it does take a lot of time and hard work, its very rewarding in the end.
Jazz Choir
Jazz choir is a fun way to learn how to sing jazz music. You aslo learn in jazz choir how to blend with other voices and how to harmonize in more dissonent ways than most of the other choirs in the program. There are multable levels of choirs including an all girls choir (Vox) that you addition for. Just like in Showchoir, you work very hard in Jazz Choir, go to many competitions, and are rewarded for your hard work.
ACapella Reign
ACapella Reign is often the favorite choir of a lot of people. its an auditions all guys group that tends to sing fun, upbeat songs. What makes this choir so fun to listen to and to watch is the way they perform. They always incorporate humor in their performances and often times they have someone beat-boxing in a few of the songs.
