Out & About...

Weekly Reminders...

  • For student and staff safety, please be sure to grab your "walkie talkies" for recess! We need a consistent way to reach you in the event of an emergency and also when parents need to pick students up early.
  • Be sure to label money sent to the Texan Cafeteria with the student and teacher's name.
  • The OTE PTA Calendar can be found here...http://otepta.blogspot.com/p/calendar-of-events_10.html
Educate the Heart

Engaging the Brain...

Alternate worked example solutions with problem-solving exercises.

Have students alternate between reading already worked solutions and trying to solve problems on their own. As students develop greater expertise, reduce the number of worked examples provided and increase the number of problems that students solve independently.

An Eye On the Gifted...

Are you interested in trying Edmodo with your class but not sure where to start? Check out this article by Paula Glass. Both of your friendly TAG teachers are happily implementing Edmodo in the classroom and are available if you need any help!

Star Gazing...

Congratulations to Amy House, star third grade teacher...our STAR Teacher of the Week receiving the most nominations!

Her colleagues write:

"Amy is always seems so calm and positive under pressure. Love a smile on her face, even when things may be challenging!"

"Amy is such a team player. She is always willing to help in any way possible and has such a positive attitude. Amy takes any situation and turns it into something positive! She is definitely my Teacher of the Week!"

"She worked so hard this week to help keep the third grade team from sinking! She is up here late and making sure everything is taken care of!"

You can find Amy's website here http://oldtown.roundrockisd.org/directory/third_grade_team/amy_house/! We appreciate all you do for your students and our learning community! You are entitled to a five-day jeans/shorts pass and an opportunity to park in the space designated all next week!
