The Dog Ate My Homework! Homework changes....
- Please remember all students must return their Reading journal every Friday. I told all of the children that I now want to see more detailed journal responses. Many are doing this already on their own!
- We have increased our reading time to 30 min 3 x per week. please make sure to have your child also read aloud to an adult for just part of those minutes (10-15min) They can also call grandma to read aloud. This will help them to greatly improve their reading fluency as an adult hears their read aloud and can give positive feedback and help them if needed.
- They should be answering 1 question (from their grid) in detail in their journal. A new journal grid will be handed out this week with journal prompt that include our latest comprehension skills.
- This homework is designed to help them to think and respond more critically to FICTION stories.
- Spelling City continues as normal 3 assignments per week (this week 5 which will carry over to next week)

Special Project for Black History Month
They will be sharing facts about their person in class.
Who is behind those masks?
They read their pourquois to each other and then to third grade classes. The third grade teachers were impressed! Ask your child what a pourquoi is and what their story was about.
They will eventually be sent home for parents to read.
