Squalicum High School
Storm Forecast for April 12-16
Storm Updates
Just before Spring Break, several staff arranged to meet at Shuksan Middle School and fix up bicycles for fun. If you have an old bike in need of repair or if you want to support the work of providing volunteer repairs, please contact Mrs. Mrosla. We hope to do this event again before the summer months. Stay tuned for more details.
We hope this break has been restful and that all students are ready to get back to the learning with focused determination. We will continue to keep you updated as we respond to the Governor's guidelines for in-person learning opportunities.
Graduation Gowns will be provided again this year. Please reserve the second weekend in June for ceremonies. We are working to decipher the capacity and ceremony options as well as a deciding on a location. Again, stay tuned - there's more info to come.
In this week's Forecast:

Student surveys in March and April
A Message from the Department of Teaching and Learning
Dear families,
We will be giving two different student surveys in March and April to better understand how to meet the needs of your children.
From March 22 to 26, students in grades 6, 8, 10, 12 will be asked to fill out a completely anonymous survey from the state that asks questions about student’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey is sponsored by Washington state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), in partnership with the Washington State Department of Health, Health Care Authority and the University of Washington.
From April 14 to 21, students in grades 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 will be asked to fill out a survey from Bellingham Public Schools that focuses on student outcomes of The Bellingham Promise, as well as feedback on instruction, school climate, belonging and student safety.
Both surveys will be optional assignments given by teachers for students to do online during asynchronous time. Parents/guardians and staff may not be able to view student sessions via apParent or ClassPolicy while students take the survey. Grade 3 teachers have the option to do the district survey during live learning since they meet four days a week in-person.
We will be sending a survey to families in May to get feedback on school culture, family engagement and instruction. Your feedback will help us determine what we are doing well and areas for improvement. Please watch for that survey later this spring.
You and your child’s feedback is important to us, and we encourage all to participate. If you have questions, please contact Carol Stewart in educational technology.
