The Beginner's Quick Guide to Homeschooling
Set your homeschooling goals for each child.
Discover your child’s learning style and your homeschooling style.
Get acquainted with homeschooling lingo.
Research homeschooling models and methodologies.
Find your support network: friends, family, homeschool community, or create your own co-op!
Get to know your city and county, and all they have to offer your homeschooling journey.
Create your homeschool, and don't worry about what others are doing.
Don't feel comfortable in a subject? That's what vendors are for!
Enjoy this time with your children and celebrate the achievements!
Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Sometimes things don't work, or days are difficult. Get outside, take a break, and remind yourself of the things that do work!

I Can Statements are simple sentences based on standards and objectives for the grade level, written in student-friendly language. They tell you what your student needs to know and learn throughout the year, but how you teach them is up to you!
I CAN Statements will help you set goals, lesson plan and choose curriculum.

Planning Amounts can be used to purchase secular curriculum and educational supplies, and pay for educational activities to expand student knowledge and experiences.
Planning Amounts are allocated so that you can plan your school year with secular curriculum, tools, and enrichment opportunities needed for your child.
Products include, but are not limited to... secular curriculum, educational supplies, field trips, educational games, technology, and novels that support student educational learning, and materials necessary to support student learning.
Services include, but are not limited to... academic extension courses, physical education classes, tutoring from an established business, physical education lessons, music lessons or any other service that requires an instructor to student interaction in an in-person setting.
Please note that services are only authorized through Cabrillo Point Academy approved vendors. Services must be virtual until further notice.
Non-Consumable vs. Consumable Items
Non- Consumables: Please be aware that any item paid for using your student Planning Amount, that can be used by another student (such as textbooks, educational board games, and technology) belongs to the school, and will need to be returned once the student withdraws from the school.
Consumables: These are items another student cannot use, such as paper, pens, workbooks that a student writes inside, and service requests. Such items cannot be used by another student and will not be returned to the school when the student withdraws.
Dates orders can be placed for new families:
- August 1st - New student orders will begin being fulfilled, so long as the family has signed their Master Agreement. You will receive this from your Homeschool Teacher.
- August 17th - First day of the 2020-2021 school year, school officially opens, and technology orders will begin fulfillment.
Please note, these dates are subject to change.

If you are new to homeschool curriculum, we are happy to help navigate the vast choices available and filter resources that would best fit the unique learning style of your student. Your Homeschool Teacher (HST) will be able to help you with your options.
Three options:
Cabrillo Point Academy adopted curriculum: These are the school's suggested curriculum options. They can contain all of your subjects within one curriculum or vendor and are purchased via the Curriculum Ordering System (COS) by your Homeschool Teacher. Please click here to view our 2020-2021 curriculum suggestions for all grades.
Family selected secular curriculum can be ordered through the Enrichment Ordering System (EOS). Families may purchase these using their Planning Amount. For secular curriculum ideas, visit http://cathyduffyreviews.com/
Mix both of the above.
Reminder: All items purchased with Planning Amounts are property of Cabrillo Point Academy. Non-consumables or unused consumables will be returned once educational curriculum is completed or student withdraws from Cabrillo Point Academy.
Cabrillo Point Academy is a public charter school and by law must remain non-sectarian in all aspects of its operation. State funds may not be used to purchase religious material.
