CLASSROOM UPDATES: 1/27/16 - 2/5/16
Reading Unit: Nonfiction and drama
Focus: The Diary of Anne Frank and the Holocaust (book club selections)
Writing Unit: Position Papers: Research and Argument
Students read Act I of The Diary of Anne Frank, and will begin Act II next week. In addition, they are practicing finding evidence in texts that support arguments and claims.
To increase nonfiction reading skills, students have been reading articles using Newsela (www.newsela.com). Students are provided time each day to read articles of their choosing and take short quiz on the material. Students are required to have read at least 15 articles and pass the accompanying quizzes by the end of fourth term (February 18th).
MATH 8
Students will be learning how to solve systems of equations using three different methods: graphing, substitution, and elimination.
Independent Work will be a little different than in the past. Based on student performance during class, students will end up with different assignments when appropriate. Page numbers will be given for where the independent work will start.
ADVANCED MATH
Students will be finishing up the Geometry Unit with Ms. Barkho teaching and Mrs. Keniston's substitute helping.

Unit Test: Thursday, Feb. 4th
13 Colonies Geography test: Friday, Feb. 5th
To assist with the geography test, students should review the digital flash cards on Quizlet.
Click "join a class," and search Social Studies Fulton. Our school's set should appear (make sure it says Fulton, MO!)
