Pruitt Library @ Roosevelt High School: In the Spotlight
SPARK (Science Propelling Amor for Reading Kinesthetically) is a great example of collaboration between the school and public library. The most recent SPARK event, held on November 30, was led by Roosevelt Science Teachers Misty Belmontez and Ana Smith. Children and parents participated in self-discovery by classifying elements as soluble or non-soluble in water.
The Molly Pruitt Library at Roosevelt HS is Bexar County’s only dual use school/public library. The facility is open seven days a week to serve the community. Find additional programming and schedule information at the San Antonio Public Library website.
Professional Library Portal (LibGuide) NEW!
The Professional Library Portal provides curated access to two existing collections featuring digital books for educators: Gale’s ASCD Professional Collection and OverDrive. In the curated collections, educators will find books categorized under broad topics such as Classroom Management, Literacy, and Leadership. This topical organization provides another way for educators to explore digital resources.
This new LibGuide is linked from the Library Services web page under the Information for: Administrators, Librarians & Staff tabs.
High School Librarians’ Book Share (Reposted - Action Required)
By noon on Friday, December 18, please submit two titles for our Book Share WebEx meeting to be held on January 4 from 4:00-5:00.
Books should be favorably reviewed for a high school audience in professional review sources, and titles available in OverDrive are preferred.
Submit titles here: High School Librarians’ Book Share Survey.
We look forward to hearing about the great books librarians have been reading!
