No Reading Sheet went home today. Please review for Math Test Tomorrow

What's happening this week...

Reading- . I did not send home a reading sheet today. I would rather students study for their first math test tomorrow. I would like them to read their story and record in their reading logs. Reading Logs will be in your child's Fish Notebook tomorrow. Please sign each night. Please have your child read for a total of 20 minutes each day. Talk to your child as they read to you each night. Ask them questions about what they read. HOMEWORK: I have sent home a copy of our pledges. Students will be asked to recited them for a grade on Friday. I am looking for them to improve their reading fluency as they practice each night. By the end of the week they should pronounce each word correctly and speak at an even pace.

Language Arts- This week's spelling patterns the doubling rule and the dropping rule. We worked on this for an hour this morning. The final consonant is doubled when a short vowel is followed by a consonant. The silent is is dropped when adding ed or ing. We will continue to practice identifying this pattern in our reading and centers as well. Spelling and Dictation tests will be on FRIDAY. Please continue to review at home subject and predicate. The subject is the who or what the sentence is about and the predicate is what the subject is doing. The dog / ran very fast. We will begin identifying types of sentences this week. We will start with statements and questions. We will continue to find the subject and predicate in each sentence as well.

Math-- We are wrapping up our addition and subtraction strategy review and will test TOMORROW. I sent home a review sheet and the remainder of the chapter that I haven't already sent home. Remember to practice math facts every day. It is so important that they are fluent in those facts.

Social Studies/Science--Please remember that our journals contain all the information students need to study. Overall we did extremely well on our first science test. We have began our Social Studies Unit on the Regions and Rivers of Georgia. Their journal will be filled with different facts about the climate, geography and natural resources of each region.
