From The Principal
We have kicked off the fall season with many fun activities involving apples! From tasting different types of apples and graphing results, to exploring the color wheel, our students have explored apples in many engaging ways.
I have had the pleasure of reading to students again this week. We read "Should I Share My Ice Cream?" by Mo Williams and had some fun conversations throughout the book.
Respectfully,
Rachel Cimek

Drop Off Update
***UPDATE*** This week went so much faster and smoother. Thank you for having your child ready to go. Each day this past week we were able to scan every child and have them into the building by 9:03.
Please plan to arrive no later than 9:00 to drop off your child. If the front doors are closed and cones are picked up from the drive - then you must park, walk your child into the foyer and sign your student in late for school.
- Students should be unbuckled before the aide approaches the car to open the door
- Students should have all their belongings together and ready to exit the vehicle (lunch pail, water bottle, backpack and shoes)
- Students should have their mask on and ready to go before they exit the vehicle
- Parents are not required to park and walk their student to the front door - feel free to use the drive up/drop off lane
- Drivers pay attention to aides. They are there to assist students but also to direct the drop off procedure. Pull ahead when waved forward - do not drop too far back.
Thank you for being prepared!
Baker Students Are Learning About Johnny Appleseed
Specials Spotlight - Physical Education - Mr Weber
To start the year at Baker we are doing lots of safe, spread out games with minimal equipment. Our first graders have learned 15 exercises and rotate through them every time in PE. They also played a game called Helicopter, which they loved. Ask them about it! Young fives and Kindergarten have been playing fun games where we can move around and stay spread out. Now they will move to no goalie soccer. They will work on kicking a ball around while not using their hands. Please continue to encourage physical activity on their off days. This keeps us all healthy and in a better mood!

Google Classroom
Google Classroom is a platform we are using as a district for remote days of learning. This can be accessed via an app on your child's IPAD using their school email. This is where teachers may post lessons, activities, directions to games, etc. Youtube is a great friend when trying to troubleshoot! Please be patient the first few weeks while we learn this platform together.

In the "Great Read Aloud Books for Young Readers" session parents will learn about different types of books that help children foster their reading skills and make reading fun. Parents will also learn activities they can do with their young reader to encourage lifelong reading habits. This workshop will include lots of examples of great read alouds that parents and children can share and read together at home.

Halloween Happenings
Halloween activities at Baker are scheduled for the following dates:
Tuesday, October 27 - Group B
Thursday, October 29 - Group A
Students should wear their costume to school. They will be in their costumes all day. There will be no changing or teacher's assisting with costume changes. This year costumes should be VERY SIMPLE.
The following should be considered while choosing a costume to wear to school.
- Face Masks MUST still be worn with this costume
- Costumes will be worn all day
- Shoes should be comfortable; avoid high heeled princess shoes or heavy boots
- Instruction will still be happening
- Bathroom concerns - using the restroom easily without costume restrictions
We also ask that costumes be age appropriate and not too “scary”. Costumes should be fun but we ask that you avoid monsters or creatures that are bloody, vicious or are associated with current events that might be frightening to young children.
Parents may want to consider Halloween clothing, jewelry and hair attire instead of a cumbersome costume.
REMINDER—No guns, swords or weapons of any kind are permitted in school.
