Miss Hoppes' Kindergarten
This week the students had the opportunity to create a wonderful art project for their 8th grade buddies. Mrs. Walsh helped the students trace their bodies and the students painted on uniforms. These little paper Kindergarten bodies will be displayed at the 8th grade graduation :) They are waving goodbye to their older friends and wishing them the best of luck in high school. I believe that the life size art project will be brought home in the next couple of weeks along with their other art projects that they created during the school year. We are still focusing on reading and writing non-fiction. We began discussing animals that live in the ocean and their varying body parts. They also really enjoying writing expository text and using their word wall words in the process. We are piggy backing the non-fiction aspect in Social Studies. The students are making some really meaningful connections between American heros in social studies and in our reading unit (Red, White and Blue). In math, we are surveying many things to collect data and then create graphs. The students love seeing their results on the graph. It makes it more concrete for them.
Congratulations to the Hayes Family on welcoming Baby Travis!!!
