Over the last few weeks, we were fortunate to receive three VCU Practicum students who were placed here to develop their teaching skills in our art program. Each VCU student presented unique lessons with a variety of materials that our students easily adapted to and produced remarkable results. Our students enjoyed the attention of four artists and the opportunity to learn new techniques as problem solving and skillful artists. The practicum students enjoyed working with students from grades third through fifth and remarked that they will miss the students and their time at Chimborazo. They plan to continue their relationship with Chimborazo in their future endeavors. I will also miss them.
We were also fortunate to receive a 27” diameter kiln. That is amazingly large in the ceramic world! A kiln this size will allow us to fire all our students’ clay pots and sculptures.
We are grateful to those who donated this equipment to our program.
